A person has been charged over the homicide of a "much-loved" grandmother in Aberdeenshire, police say.

Officers had been referred to as to a home in Catto Drive, Peterhead, on Tuesday night following a report of concern for Elizabeth Watson.

The 58-year-old girl was pronounced lifeless on the scene and her loss of life is being handled as homicide.

In a press release launched by means of Police Scotland, her household stated: "Elizabeth was a much-loved mum and grandma, she will be missed dearly by many."

A 30-year-old man was arrested and has now been charged in connection along with her loss of life.

He is because of seem at Peterhead Sheriff Court on Friday.

Detective Inspector James Callander stated: "Our ideas are with Elizabeth's household and mates at this tough time, in addition to everybody in the area people affected by her loss of life.

"We are treating this as a contained incident and there is no risk to the wider public.

"A police presence will stay within the space within the coming days, together with detectives from the most important investigation workforce. Specialist officers are offering Elizabeth's household with help."
