Britons compelled to evactuate Rhodes have praised Greek households for opening their properties and serving to out through the tough instances.

With wildfires sweeping across parts of Rhodes, the Foreign Office is now warning travellers to avoid some areas of the popular holiday island.

It has warned travellers to check with the airline and hotel before travelling. The Foreign Office is also reminding Brits to make sure they have proper insurance before jetting off.

Previous, Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove told Sky News he was still planning on going holiday to Greece next week. He is set to travel to Evia, one of the islands that has issued an evacuation order.

Gove told BBC Breakfast that Greece was "secure" and a "fantastic place for these lucky sufficient to go overseas to spend a while this summer season".
