Parents paying their respects on the scene of the Wimbledon crash have stated "everyone is affected" by the tragedy.

The area people has been left reeling after eight-year-old Selena Lau was killed by a Land Rover that crashed into an end-of-term tea social gathering at The Study Preparatory School on Camp Road in Wimbledon on Thursday.

A second eight-year-old was in a "life-threatening" situation in hospital on Friday evening, whereas a lady in her 40s stays in a crucial situation.

Thomas Barlow, councillor for Wimbledon Village, stated: "Everyone's in complete shock that something like this could happen ... and the fact that this happened on the last day of term which was clearly a happy day at school is horrendous."

"The whole village is in shock, a lot of the people had connections to this school," he added, talking from the location of the incident.

A complete of 16 individuals have been treated at the scene and 12 - together with a seven-month-old lady - have been taken to hospital and their situations have been assessed as not life-threatening, the Metropolitan Police stated.

The injured adults have been dad and mom or carers and never workers on the faculty, they added.

The automobile crashed by means of the fence and right into a constructing on the faculty in southwest London on Thursday morning.

The driver, a 46-year-old girl from Wimbledon, was arrested on the scene on suspicion of inflicting dying by harmful driving and has been bailed pending additional inquiries to a date later this month.

'Everyone's affected by it'

One guardian who introduced their younger little one to the scene on Saturday stated: "Everyone's affected by it, everyone is questioning how it could've happened.

"I'm simply feeling actually sorry for the households of these affected and the youngsters who survived.

"It's a quiet road, I'm wondering how can a car build up such speed in a short space of time, it's crazy."

Amelia, 19, a Wimbledon native, used to attend the varsity in 2015. She and her brother laid flowers on Saturday afternoon to pay their respects.

She stated: "I think The Study is a tightly-knit community, it's quite a small school so even after people left, we are all together. We came to pay our respects became it's not just a school, it's a community as well.

"I feel it is fairly unhappy as a result of the varsity is way out of the way in which, it is not on a essential street, it is not within the centre of Wimbledon, so it is surprising that this occurred.

"The only reason you're coming down these roads is to go to the school or the golf clubs."

Cards and flowers with transferring tributes to the younger lady have been laid on the scene all through Friday and Saturday.

Serena's household stated she was an "intelligent" and "cheeky" lady, "adored and loved by everyone".
