In the Sunday Times, she wrote: "You can’t just proclaim yourself a female and be able to compete against women. There must be some standards, and having a penis and competing as a woman would not fit that standard.

"To put the argument at its most simple: a person can determine to be feminine, take hormones if required by no matter sporting organisation is anxious, win the whole lot in sight and maybe earn a small fortune, after which reverse his resolution and return to creating infants if he so wishes.

“It’s insane and it’s dishonest. I'm completely happy to handle a transgender girl in no matter kind she prefers, however I might not be completely happy to compete towards her. It wouldn't be truthful."
