A father has died, and his two kids injured after a grenade detonated of their residence in Indiana, authorities have stated.

Police in Lake County, Indiana, responded to experiences of an explosion at a house on W Lakeshore Drive at round 6.30pm on Saturday.

The household was wanting by way of a grandfather's belongings once they discovered a hand grenade.

The gadget exploded when somebody reportedly pulled the pin, the sheriff's division stated.

The father was discovered unresponsive on the scene and later pronounced lifeless.

His two kids, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old lady, have been taken to hospital with shrapnel wounds, based on NBC.

The Porter County Bomb Squad responded to the decision to find out if there have been some other explosive units, the sheriff's division stated.
