A major college in Manchester was engulfed in flames this morning as ten fireplace engines rushed to place out the blaze.

SS Simon & Jude CE Primary School, on Newport Road in Bolton, was seen buried in smoke this morning as firefighters tried to place out the flames that began within the roof house within the college corridor.

It isn't but clear what triggered the hearth.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) mentioned: "At 8.30am on Thursday 17 August, fire crews were called to reports of a fire at a school on Newport Road, Bolton.

"Ten fireplace engines from throughout Greater Manchester have been rapidly mobilised to the incident. The fireplace initially concerned the roof house of the varsity corridor. Firefighters sporting respiration equipment are utilizing hose reels to extinguish the hearth. Road closures stay in place."

Footage seen by Express.co.uk reveals firefighters on the roof making an attempt to place out the blaze.

Smoke remains to be seen coming from the rooftop, with the street closed to all autos whereas emergency companies attend the incident.

Thankfully, it is not thought any kids have been inside on the time of the hearth with the summer season holidays nonetheless in full swing.

However, it is not but recognized if any lecturers or employees have been inside on the time.

According to the varsity's web site, there are round 600 pupils on the college.
