The household of a four-year-old boy is battling to lift £250,000 to assist him in his determined battle with a uncommon most cancers.

Calum Rae's household says an costly American drug trial will assist the younger boy combat off an aggressive neuroblastoma cancer, which has a five-year survival price of fifty p.c.

Little Calum's mum Victoria McDonald and pop Andrew Rae hope the therapy will give them a bit extra time with their son, the Daily Record stories.

Victoria, 33, stated: "When they told us Calum had cancer, we just crumbled. Our whole world just stopped.

"The very first thing that goes by your head is, ‘is he going to die? He’s solely 4. Are we going to lose our boy?’

"It was total panic. Seeing him, you just wish it wasn’t real. There are times I just sit and cry and pray it’s been a mistake but this is our reality."

She added: "This cancer is so aggressive they don’t even call it being in remission because it is so likely to come back."

Calum's battle with most cancers stretches again to January, when the younger boy caught chickenpox.

But when his signs did not subside, his GP advised it may very well be a post-viral an infection linked to shingles.

He was later despatched for an MRI scan as his situation saved getting worse. The scan revealed he had a neuroblastoma near his spinal wire.

When Calum finishes his therapy in Glasgow, docs will then determine on surgical procedure to take away the tumour. If surgical procedure is given the go-ahead, he may very well be thought-about for the American trial.
