A six-year-old lady was killed when a speedboat race driver misplaced management and crashed onto a seashore within the Philippines. Sciamira Ziah Banquil was taking part in within the sand as locals held a race at Paliton Beach on Siquijor Island on Sunday.

The winner of the race mowed down Sciamira and hit spectator Alixa Buhian, 24, who suffered a head harm.

Sciamira and Mr Buhian have been taken to hospital, however the teenager was declared useless on arrival.

The lady's dad, Joe Pro Banquil, stated: "The driver suddenly accelerated when he was approaching the shore.

"It occurred so quick I could not run to my daughter in time."

Her cousin, Jerby Factularin, said: "The household are all heartbroken. Everyone beloved Sciamira a lot. Now we would like justice for her."

San Juan police have detained the boat driver, James Sumalpong.

Police Master Sergeant Carry Grencio said based on the force's investigation, the driver struck the victims while they were on the shore after his engine malfunctioned.

The officer added: "They have been rushed to the Siquijor Provincial Hospital, however the lady was declared useless on arrival. The organisers had a allow to carry the boat race."
