Steve Barclay has hinted that he would really like the rugby heroes Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield to obtain knighthoods. The Health Secretary appeared to approve of a marketing campaign by the Daily Express to have the 2 knighted following their unbelievable marathon end earlier this month. Mr Barclay mentioned the 2 have been "inspirational figures" who deserved excessive reward whereas committing to the Government's funding for MND.

The MP for North East Cambridgeshire appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning whereas making the Government media rounds.

He was requested by presenter Jon Kay whether or not he would assist the marketing campaign.

Replying to Mr Kay, the Health Secretary mentioned that he could not "stray into making those sorts of recommendations" to the Government.

But the self-confessed rugby fan praised the "amazing" duo for his or her years-long marketing campaign.

He mentioned: "As a Health Secretary and rugby fan, I think what they have both done is absolutely amazing."

He added that he thought the celebs have been "remarkable characters" and "inspirational figures".

Mr Barclay continued: "I think that what they have done for the MND community is absolutely remarkable."

The minister concluded saying the knighthood marketing campaign is "absolutely inspirational".

Burrow and Sinfield accomplished the Leeds Marathon on May 14 as a part of a marketing campaign to boost cash for MND analysis.

Together, they've raised £2.7million in direction of MND causes following Burrow's analysis in 2019, with Sinfield having carried his former teammate throughout the end line final month to mark one other profitable effort.
