In a letter, revealed on Thursday, to Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael, who lodged the criticism with the watchdog, Sir Robert mentioned: “The common member of the general public is prone to interpret a declare to have ‘cleared a backlog’ – particularly when offered with out context on social media – as which means that it has been eradicated completely, so it's not shocking that the Government’s declare has been greeted with scepticism and that some folks might really feel misled when these ‘hard cases’ stay within the official estimates of the legacy backlog.
