'Hostage' incident at German hospital sparks main evacuation

A significant hospital in Germany has been sealed off amid reviews in native media of a possible hostage state of affairs - with armed police and hearth brigades on website. The clinic, Luisenhospital, is situated in Aachen, a metropolis which borders Belgium with round 252,000 residents.

Speaking concerning the incident, a police assertion claimed a 65-year-old lady "barricaded herself" inside one of many rooms on the clinic.

Aachen Police mentioned in an announcement: "According to current information, a female (65) entered the hospital in the afternoon. Shortly afterwards, employees noticed smoke developing near the woman. The 65-year-old has now barricaded herself in a room. The surrounding rooms have been evacuated. Special forces are on site."
