Jeff Stelling's son Robbie has penned an emotional message to his father, because the legendary broadcaster hosts his closing episode of Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports over the past day of the Premier League season. Stelling Jr led tributes made by a number of well-known faces from the footballing world as his dad took to the display alongside the Soccer Saturday panel for yet one more time.

Robbie Stelling took to Twitter to jot down: "Well done Dad, so proud of you. You've put your heart and soul into the show and have no doubt left a mark on more than just the world of football. As a father and broadcaster, you have taught me so much about football and life. You are the best there has ever been x."

He then added: "I know you're going to have some more time on your hands, but please let Mum make the pigs in blankets this Xmas!"

Stelling snr joined Sky Sports in 1992 and has hosted the present since 1994, having been an unmissable character that has led protection of Soccer Saturday, which has been a fixture of many properties throughout Britain for a number of years.

He did initially announce his departure in 2021, however went again on his authentic plan to proceed within the host's chair till the ultimate day of this season as he performed on his closing present.

Announcing his shock departure from the present, Stelling mentioned: "I've been at Sky for more than 30 years and loved every moment of my time as part of the Soccer Saturday team.

"It is now the proper time to maneuver on and provides Sky Sports viewers a break from my relentless rants, dangerous gags and excessive celebrations of Hartlepool United targets. It's been quite a lot of enjoyable - for me at the very least!"

Chris Kamara, a regular on the show alongside Stelling, also paid tribute to the broadcaster. "This Sunday sees the final day at Sky for one of the best broadcaster I've ever met @JeffStelling," he tweeted. "I get my tribute in early as a result of Jeff has been an enormous a part of my life and I really like him to bits. One of the issues I do miss is working with the maestro. There won't ever be one other. You are 'Unbelievable Jeff' - and at all times will likely be."

Stelling then responded: "We did okay Kammy didn’t we for 2 scruffy youngsters from both aspect of the River Tees. All these emotions are mutual btw. Thanks Pal. Take care !"
