Kate Garraway and her husband, Derek Draper, had been at Windsor Castle because the presenter was awarded an MBE by the Prince of Wales.

Draper watched on in his wheelchair close by as Garraway acquired the award from William on Wednesday.

He was pictured on the ceremony in a blue swimsuit and striped tie.

Garraway wore a cream gown with a bejewelled collar and an identical headpiece for the investiture ceremony.

'I have not acquired it for taking care of Derek'

Speaking on the news of the accolade final 12 months, the Good Morning Britain presenter stated she felt a bit "awkward" however was "honoured" to obtain the award.

She added: "I actually feel very awkward about it all really, I don't know why, because I'm thrilled to bits and incredibly honoured.

"But you simply kind of assume 'What? Me?', and you then assume it isn't actual."

At the time, Garraway additionally stated she was going through some adverse feedback in regards to the awards and stated it was for broadcasting and never as a result of she had been taking good care of her husband.

She stated: "I feel it has [evoked] unusual emotions. And there have been just a few feedback because it was introduced of individuals saying 'Why has she acquired this? I take care of my liked one'.

"I haven't got it for looking after Derek. It is for broadcasting and I think also charity work.

"But there's a number of folks that you just really feel deserve it extra. So it is a unusual feeling."

In 2022, Garraway was recognised within the New Year Honours for her companies to broadcasting, journalism and charity.

In March 2020, through the pandemic, Draper fell seriously ill with COVID, which left him with long-lasting damage to his organs and needing daily care.

The TV presenter has since made two documentaries detailing her family's life as Draper battles the long-term effects of coronavirus, with both programmes winning National Television Awards in the authored documentary category.

There are plans for her to front a third documentary exposing the "damaged" care system.
