Kerala’s iconic Thrissur Pooram was held in full grandeur on the famed Vadakkunnathan Temple right here on April 30 with a parade of ornately caparisoned elephants and high-octane conventional percussion efficiency which enthralled a sea of individuals. 

During the famed ‘Kudamattam‘, which started shortly after six within the night, the Thiruvambady aspect stole the present with a show of a formidable, illuminated cutout of Argentinian football legend Lionel Messi holding the World Cup.

The two-centuries-old Thrissur Pooram had its origin in 1798, by means of a royal edict of the then Raja Rama Varma, popularly often known as Shakthan Thampuran, a strong ruler of the erstwhile princely state of Cochin. 

The edict entrusted two native temples, Paramekkavu and Thiruvambady, as the principle sponsors of the festivities to be carried out in a aggressive spirit. 

Besides the principle poorams by the 2 Devaswoms, small poorams from close by temples additionally participated within the festivities.
