Labour infighting right this moment erupted with Andy Burnham accusing Sir Keir Starmer's workforce of briefing in opposition to him.

The Mayor of Greater Manchester claimed younger aides of the Labour chief have been making an attempt to undermine his work with detrimental briefings.

"To have the kind of old ways of Westminster trying to cut across that with their negative briefing and their insecurity, I honestly don't know what purpose they think it serves.

"And it would be nice to have some support from a national level."

Mr Burnham blamed "unelected people in their 20s or 30s" round Sir Keir "who think they know it all" as being accountable.
