Capaldi, 26, apologised to followers in an announcement posted on Twitter, telling his 1.4 million followers: "I have not been dwelling since Christmas and for the time being I'm struggling to familiarize yourself with all of it.

"I need to take a moment to rest and recover, to be at my best and ready for Glastonbury and all the other incredible shows coming up, so that I'm able to continue doing what I love for a long time to come.

"I have to take these three weeks to be Lewis from Glasgow for a bit, spend a while with my household and pals and do regular life issues which can be an necessary a part of me feeling higher.

"I hope everyone understands."

He shared the assertion together with a heartbroken emoji on Monday night - including that he was "extremely sorry" to his many followers who "spent money on travel or hotels, which I appreciate more than ever with how difficult things are economically at the moment".
