Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales has issued a recent defence after kissing a participant on the lips following the Women's World Cup closing.

Mr Rubiales's assertion comes because the Spanish football federation called for him to step down on Monday.

The 46-year-old has confronted widespread criticism for kissing participant Jennifer Hermoso on the lips through the awards ceremony after Spain's 1-0 victory over England within the Women's World Cup closing on 20 August.

In his assertion, he stated: "I made some obvious mistakes, which I sincerely regret from the bottom of my heart.

"The spontaneity and happiness of the historic second led us to hold out a mutual and consented act, the product of nice enthusiasm.

"At no time was there any aggression, indeed, there was not even the slightest discomfort, but an overflowing joy in both.

"I repeat: with the consent of each events, each within the affectionate hugs, in addition to within the peak and subsequent farewell stuffed with affectionate mutual gestures, that occurred on the Medals supply stage.

Earlier, the coach of the Spanish males's nationwide soccer crew, Luis de la Fuente, apologised for applauding Mr Rubiales through the speech wherein he refused to resign.

Mr Rubiales, 46, claimed within the speech final Friday that he was the sufferer of a "social assassination".

The males's coach was sitting within the entrance row throughout Mr Rubiales' speech and clapped when he attacked "false feminism".

Mr de la Fuente stated the soccer federation president's defiant speech was a "situation that overwhelmed many of us for which I was not prepared for" - saying he anticipated Mr Rubiales to resign.
