Avon and Somerset police stated officers have been despatched to an handle in Norton Fitzwarren, close to Taunton, at round 4.40pm on Sunday (September 10) following a report {that a} man was making threats to an individual dwelling there and had prompted injury to the property.  Norton Fitzwarren is residence to the 40 Commando Royal Marines and the RM Norton Manor Camp.

Police say that when officers arrived, the person left the handle in a big navy truck.  Police stated he then drove the automobile into two police vehicles blocking the street, inflicting them intensive injury.  

No-one was damage through the incident, the pressure stated. Footage from the incident reportedly reveals the truck drive although the street block, knocking a big police automobile out of its approach.  After driving via the street block, the truck then hits a parked automobile and a signpost earlier than the video ends.

In a press release launched late on Sunday night time (September 10), Avon and Somerset police stated: "The man subsequently drove to the A361 M5 overbridge where he exited the vehicle and climbed over the railings, leading the motorway to be closed in both directions.  

"The man was arrested 25 minutes later and he at the moment stays in police custody."

However, earlier that evening, The National Police Air Service (NPAS) revealed that quick-thinking lorry drivers parked their HGVs underneath an overbridge on the M5 at around 5.20pm.

In a post on X, the social media website formerly know as twitter, an NPAS spokesperson said: "We have deployed our Exeter plane to help @ASPolice with an individual in disaster on the #M5 at #Taunton. Excellent intervention by officers on scene means male is now protected. Fantastic to see #HGV drivers providing to assist with their lorries to safeguard the particular person - thanks."
