man has been arrested on suspicion of prison injury and harmful driving after a automobile was pushed into the gates of Downing Street.
The silver Kia automotive crashed into the gates at round 4.20pm on Thursday, the Metropolitan Police mentioned in a press release.
Images on social media confirmed the automotive surrounded by emergency autos.
The drive added that no-one has been harm.
It is known that counter-terrorism police will not be concerned within the investigation at this stage.
Witness Simon Parry, 44, mentioned he heard a “bang”.
“I heard a bang and looked up and saw loads of police with Taser guns shouting at the man,” he mentioned.
“A lot of police vehicles came very quickly and were very quick to evacuate the area.”
In a press release launched on Twitter, the Metropolitan Police mentioned: “At around 16:20hrs a car collided with the gates of Downing Street on Whitehall.
“Armed officers arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage and dangerous driving.
“There are no reports of any injuries. Inquiries are ongoing.”
Footage of the incident broadcast by the BBC seems to point out the automotive slowing down earlier than it hits the gate.
Large sections of Whitehall have been closed to the general public and autos following the incident, with pedestrians being turned away from the primary thoroughfare round Downing Street in central London.
There is a major police presence within the space.
There are cordons round Whitehall with law enforcement officials blocking entry to the road from outdoors the Ministry of Defence.
The incident comes as many civil servants are leaving their places of work for the day within the space.
