A person was arrested on the FA Cup closing at Wembley for carrying a Manchester United shirt which had an offensive reference to the Hillsborough catastrophe, by which 97 Liverpool followers died.

{A photograph} was circulated on Twitter by what gave the impression to be a Liverpool fan account referred to as @LiverpoolPhotox which confirmed the again of the person's shirt with the quantity 97 on it and the phrases 'Not sufficient'.

The Metropolitan Police Events Twitter account retweeted the {photograph} and wrote: "#ARREST We are aware of this and have worked proactively with officials at @wembleystadium to identify the individual.

"He has been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and brought into custody."

Ninety-seven Liverpool fans died as a result of a crush at an FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium in Sheffield on 15 April, 1989.

They were unlawfully killed amid a number of police errors, an inquest jury ruled in 2016.

In March 2023, the golf equipment collectively referred to as on followers to finish "tragedy chanting" ahead of a Premier League match at Anfield.
