Robert Jenner, 48, of Albion Place, Maidstone, was charged this morning after a police officer was stabbed on Thursday. Jenner will seem at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, in accordance with Kent Police. The police officer who was injured, an unnamed constable in his 50s, suffered stab wounds reportedly attributable to a pair of scissors.

The stabbing happened at round 8pm on Thursday when officers attended a property in Albion Place.

The officer was airlifted to a hospital in London with "serious injuries".

The injured officer was later discharged and is now recovering at dwelling. 

Kent Police deputy chief constable Peter Ayling mentioned:  “This horrific assault reveals us as soon as once more that policing can, at instances, be harmful and unpredictable."

He added: “In Kent Police any assault on a police officer going about their duty is entirely unacceptable and will be met with the full force of pursuit and investigation.

“Our thoughts are with the officer and his family at this time.”

Several police and ambulance vehicles were spotted outside Haynes Ford in Andrew Broughton Way, Maidstone on Thursday night.

One resident described a "very intense" scene during which a minimum of 30 officers entered an condominium block reverse the automobile dealership.

She informed KentOnline: "It began off with one police automobile, then all of them simply swarmed round and bumped into the constructing.

"It looked very intense.

"An ambulance pulled in they usually introduced somebody out. He appeared as if he’d been hit on the top.

"They then took a second person out, who was in handcuffs and put him in the back of a police vehicle."

She added: “There must have been seven police cars, a riot van, some unmarked cars and two ambulances.

“A forensic van came at 11pm, someone went into the building wearing a hazmat suit and then left.”
