Daniil Medvedev refused to scrub his hair earlier than his second-round Wimbledon victory over Adrian Mannarino resulting from a superstition he began in 2022. The Russian was compelled to play on consecutive days resulting from delays within the Championships’ schedule attributable to rain.

Medvedev insisted in his post-match press convention that his type is bettering, believing he performed higher towards Mannarino than he did towards Fery. He admitted he was ‘nervous’ to play a day after his powerful encounter with the 20-year-old.

"Not easy to play two different days. Four-all, never easy. Straightaway you're nervous, you don't want to lose this set because the momentum of the match can change,” Medvedev added.

“I’m happy that I managed to close it out on the tie-break. I feel like I played pretty well from the start today. We had some unbelievable points.

"Today I feel I performed even higher than yesterday, to date [I am] joyful. The additional you go, the more durable the opponents, the more durable the matches. This match was a lot better than the primary one. That's the way you wish to be in a Grand Slam."
