A leather-based jacket worn by the late pop star Michael Jackson in an advert for Pepsi has bought for £250,000.

The jacket, worn by Jackson within the 1984 business, fetched the whopping six-figure sum at an public sale in London on Friday.

It had been estimated to promote for between £200,000 and £400,000.

It went beneath the hammer alongside memorabilia from a number of different late music superstars, together with George Michael and Amy Winehouse.

A jacket worn by Wham! star Michael within the music video I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me), alongside US singer Aretha Franklin, bought for £93,750, together with the customer's premium.

The La Rocka jacket, as it's recognized, far exceeded expectations, having initially been listed as anticipating to promote for between £30,000 and £60,000.

Other closely-watched objects included a beehive hairpiece worn by Winehouse within the 2007 music video You Know I'm No Good from her final album Back to Black.

It bought for £18,750, together with the customer's premium.

It was estimated to go for between £15,000 and £30,000.

More than 200 items of music memorabilia had been on sale on the four-day Propstore leisure public sale.

They additionally included objects from bands and singers equivalent to AC/DC, David Bowie, Queen, Oasis, Elvis Presley, Johnny Marr and The Beatles.
