More than £50,000 has been raised for the police officer in Nottinghamshire who was hit by a practice final week.

Dan Fletcher, who has been referred to domestically as a former police officer, arrange the crowdfunding effort on the weekend with an preliminary goal of £50,000.

That goal has since been surpassed, with donations reaching greater than £54,500 by Tuesday afternoon.

In the replace, Mr Fletcher says: "This is an appeal to the community in order to assist the injured police officer and his family following a terrible ordeal whereby an officer has sustained life altering injuries in the line of duty whilst saving the life of another individual.

It comes after the officer, who has not been named by the pressure, was left with "serious injuries" after being hit by a practice close to Balderton in Nottinghamshire.
