An aged man has been arrested on suspicion of homicide after the loss of life of a girl in her 80s.

A homicide investigation has been launched by Dorset Police following the loss of life of a girl at an handle in Bournemouth.

Police obtained a report round 7pm on Saturday elevating concern for the welfare of a girl at an handle off Wick Lane within the Southbourne suburb of Bournemouth.

Officers attended with the ambulance service however the girl - who police imagine was in her 80s - was pronounced useless on the scene. Her household has been knowledgeable and officers are offering assist to them.

A person in his 80s from Bournemouth - who is understood to the sufferer - has been arrested on suspicion of homicide. He has been taken to hospital for therapy.

Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, of Major Crime Investigation Team, mentioned: "Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who has sadly died.

"We have launched an investigation to determine the total circumstances of what occurred.

"I am keen to hear from anyone locally who may have information that may assist our enquiries.

"There will probably be an elevated police presence within the space over the approaching days and officers could be approached by any member of the general public with data or considerations."
