change to the cone on the pinnacle of a statue of the Duke of Wellington in Glasgow β an iconic picture of town β was not made by famed avenue artist Banksy, the PA news company understands.
The artistβs in style Cut And Run exhibition opened on the metropolisβs Gallery of Modern Art in June and closed on Monday.
Just toes from the doorway to the gallery, the statue of the nineteenth century politician and navy commander driving a horse has for years had an orange site visitors cone adorning its head.
The picture has develop into synonymous with Glasgow, and Banksy has described it as his favorite art work and a part of the explanation he determined to carry his first exhibition within the metropolis.
Following the top of the exhibition, photographs taken by PA present a brand new cone in place on the statue, this time with a propeller on prime and a black stripe on the base, whereas a daily site visitors cone seems to have been positioned below the arm of the duke.
But it's understood the change was not made by the artist, leaving the identification of the perpetrator unknown.
