Nigel Farage tonight insisted the Government has the facility to dam Sadiq Khan's ULEZ growth.

The zone will cowl all London boroughs in only a fortnight which means extra motorists shall be pressured to pay the £12.50 each day cost for probably the most polluting autos in a bid to spice up air high quality.

But the previous Ukip and Brexit Party chief urged Mark Harper to intervene as he pointed to Article 143 of the Greater London Authority Act of 1999.

Under the act, the Transport Secretary has the facility to torpedo any proposals by the London Mayor which might be “inconsistent” with nationwide transport insurance policies and “detrimental” to areas outdoors Greater London.

Turning to whether it would be at odds with national policies on transport, Mr Farage highlighted how the Tories are against the ULEZ expansion, while Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has also spoken out against it.
