However, historians generally attribute the outbreak of World War II to the Nazis' aggressive expansionism, characterised by their invasion of neighbouring nations beneath Hitler's management.

The choice to invade Poland adopted Hitler's earlier army actions, together with the occupation of Austria and the annexation of Czechoslovakia, now Czechia, actions that went unchallenged by the worldwide neighborhood.

Many view these actions as setting a precedent that emboldened Hitler to pursue additional invasions.

The Russian president moreover acknowledged that he harboured "no intention" of launching assaults on Poland or Latvia, emphasising that such actions would solely happen in response to an assault on Russia by both nation.
