A number one Brexiteer has warned that rich Remainers backing Labour proves that Sir Keir Starmer will take Britain again into the EU.

Former Brexit minister David Jones, who's deputy chairman of the European Research Group (ERG), raised issues after Autoglass boss Gary Lubner introduced he was handing Labour £5million.

Lubner pledged monetary assist to place the celebration in energy "for a long time" giving Brexit as his prime motive.

Starmer not too long ago wrote for the Daily Express insisting that he wouldn't reverse Brexit and simply supposed to "make Brexit work".

He said: "Britain’s future is outdoors the EU. Not within the single market, not within the customs union, not with a return to freedom of motion. Those arguments are prior to now, the place they belong."

However, after a series of U-turns on policies including his previous push for a second referendum on EU membership, Tory MPs have claimed he cannot be trusted.

Mr Jones, who was also previously Welsh Secretary, warned that the prominence of wealthy donors who have professed a desire to reverse Brexit is proof that Labour could end up doing something different in power.

He told Express.co.uk: "Gary Lubner is a widely known critic of Brexit, as is Lord Sainsbury, who not too long ago gave £2million to Labour.

"The fact that rich Remain supporters are so happy to bankroll Keir Starmer should come as a warning to all those who voted to leave the EU in 2016.

"Quite merely, Labour can’t be trusted to not reverse Brexit in the event that they achieve energy on the subsequent normal election."

Other Tory MPs have also warned of a potential "Remoaner alliance" with the Lib Dems or SNP if there's a hung parliament after the following election.
