Romania has denied that Russian suicide drones used to focus on the town of Izmail in Ukraine have violated NATO airspace.

One of the drones was reported to have crashed in Romanian territory, in accordance with witnesses however this was later denied by the Romanian army.

Romania is a NATO member.

The Russian military used Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 assault drones to focus on Izmail on the evening of August 2.

Several buildings had been severely broken, together with the three-story Sea Port constructing, the elevator, grain hangars, tanks at a cargo terminal, manufacturing and storage amenities, and the executive constructing of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company.

Visegrád 24 Reporting through the Romanian media outlet Digi24 wrote on Twitter: "Some of the suicide drones Russia used to strike the town of Izmail really crossed into Romanian airspace.

"Witnesses say one of many drones crashed in Romania. Romania is a NATO member state!"

On Thursday, the Romanian Ministry of Defence responded to the mayor of Ceatalchioi commune's statement claiming that Russian drones involved in the Izmail port attack crossed into Romania, with one falling in the forest.

However, the Ministry of Defence stated that no evidence was found at the scene to support this claim, according to Digi24.ro

"A team of specialists from the Romanian Air Force went to the site during this day to investigate the reported situations.
