Spain captain and World Cup remaining hero Olga Carmona discovered after the match that her father had died, the Spanish FA (RFEF) mentioned on August 20.

An RFEF spokesperson instructed Reuters that Carmona's father had been combating an extended sickness and died on Friday.

"I know that you have given me the strength to achieve something unique," Carmona wrote on the social media platform X, previously often known as Twitter. "I know you have been watching me tonight and that you are proud of me. Rest in peace, dad."

According to Spanish media outlet Relevo, Carmona's household and buddies determined to not inform her in order that she may concentrate on a very powerful match of her life.
