olice investigating the tried homicide of a detective in Northern Ireland in February have made three arrests.
Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell was critically injured after he was shot a number of instances at a sports activities centre in Omagh, Co Tyrone, in February after teaching a youth sports activities crew.
Investigating officers on Tuesday arrested three males, aged 45, 47 and 58, in Newtownabbey, Coalisland and Belfast below the Terrorism Act.
All three have been taken to Musgrave critical crime suite in Belfast for questioning.
Mr Caldwell had been along with his son loading footballs into the boot of his automobile when he was shot.
The so-called New IRA claimed accountability for the capturing, with police investigating if the dissident republican group might have been assisted by gangsters.
Mr Caldwell spent a number of weeks in intensive care after the capturing.
