Manchester United have positioned Ryan Bertrand on their shortlist of candidates to switch the injured Luke Shaw, Express Sport understands.

Erik ten Hag and co are scouting out a short-term resolution to a sequence of damage setbacks, and Bertrand has been a free agent since leaving Leicester City earlier this summer season.

The Red Devils have been caught quick on the left-hand facet of defence, with Shaw set for a number of weeks on the sidelines because of a muscular drawback. Tyrell Malacia can be out injured, whereas Brandon Williams joined Ipswich Town on mortgage earlier this week.

Bertrand is among the many names being thought of by senior figures at Old Trafford, with the membership deciding to try to reinforce the place earlier than subsequent week's switch deadline.
