Wrexham house owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have admitted there's real curiosity from their aspect on convincing Gareth Bale to hitch the membership, though they doubt whether or not the Wales soccer icon will select to return out of retirement. Their promotion again to the Football League is step one in Reynolds and McElhenney's journey since taking up the membership again in 2021. The Hollywood duo have lofty ambitions for the Welsh aspect in attempting to push all of them the best way to the Premier League.

To do this, Wrexham should make some waves within the switch market and the pair have already teased a sensational transfer to convey Bale out of retirement. Both Reynolds and McElhenney have been publicly courting Bale to step again into soccer, though some have been left questioning whether or not their supposed curiosity was real.

When requested whether or not they had been critical about attempting to convey Bale out of retirement, McElhenney advised S4C: "I think there's seriousness from our side, but I don't know that there's seriousness from his. Reynolds added: “I’m also weirdly happy for him to do exactly what he wants to do with his life, because he has given up so much for a sport that he loves – but it is fun though.

“I like that we can kind of do some stuff that is a little outside the box of convention when it comes to goofing around.” The Wrexham owners are also fully aware that changes will need to be made to the squad in order to challenge in League Two next season.

But the duo aren't looking to impose themselves on the football side of things when it comes to transfers, admitting that area of expertise is left with manager Phil Parkinson. “We defer to Phil," McElhenney stated.

“We are actively speaking about that proper now. I do know for a truth he feels as if now we have a really robust aspect. No resolution that now we have made over the past two years hasn’t saved the longer term in thoughts, so we by no means make a short-term resolution.

“Any participant that now we have signed, now we have signed to a minimum of a three-year deal, apart from one (goalkeeper Ben Foster).

“He is the man we're going to work on, however aside from that, I feel now we have a really robust aspect. If Phil says we'd like someone else, then we are going to do our greatest to exit and get them.”
