Delta flight declares emergency as nostril touchdown gear fails on strategy to Charlotte airport

A Delta flight was compelled to do an emergency touchdown after the nostril touchdown gear failed to come back down.

The airplane – travelling from Atlanta to Charlotte – circled because it tried to repair the issue, however passengers had been finally advised to get within the brace place.

The runway was closed for about eight hours whereas the jet was eliminated and the tarmac inspected.

One lady, who stated her son was on the flight, tweeted an image of the airplane and praised the pilot for a “phenomenal job”.

Delta stated in an announcement that touchdown gear failures had been a “rare occurrence” and that its crews “train extensively to safely manage through many scenarios”.

It apologised for the inconvenience and added: “Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and people.”
