Two girls of their 20s had been reportedly handled on the scene for again accidents, reports The Sun. They had been airlifted to hospital after falling a number of metres onto the snow.

A spokesperson for the resort instructed The Sun the incident was attributable to “a freak gust of wind”. They added: “Thredbo can confirm there was an isolated incident affecting a single chair on Kosciuszko Chairlift at approximately 2.20pm on Saturday caused by a freak gust of wind.

“There had been no main accidents induced, and the three friends concerned are being sorted by the group. No different friends or chairs had been affected.

“Thredbo is committed to the safety of our guests and our people. The incident is currently being thoroughly investigated by SafeWork NSW and an independent engineer.

“Thredbo assures friends that their security is paramount and that we are going to proceed to use our excessive requirements of security and threat administration.”

At nearly 2km lengthy, the Kosciuszko Chairlift is Australia’s longest ski raise. It was accomplished round 33 years in the past.
