A cruise ship passenger has died whereas swimming close to the shores of the “haunted” Mystery Island within the Pacific Ocean, in response to native experiences. The particular person was a holidaymaker who had been voyaging on a Carnival Australia cruise in Vanuatu once they died.

Mystery Island is a tiny uninhabited islet close to to Aneityum in Vanuatu, within the western Pacific Ocean.

The official title of the island, given by locals, is Inyeug. It is known to be thought-about taboo to dwell on the island and anyone who visits the island sometimes comes from Aneityum, which has a inhabitants of 1,200.

Carnival Australia stated in a press release: “Carnival Cruise Line is deeply saddened by the death of a guest on Mystery Island, following what appears to be a medical situation whilst swimming.

“Our Care Team are supporting the visitor’s household together with different friends throughout this troublesome time.”

Australian broadcaster 7News was told by another passenger that the person died while snorkelling on Mystery Island.

The Carnival Splendour ship was in the middle of a 9-day route through the south pacific when the incident happened.

The trip started in Sydney on Monday, 15 May and is expected to arrive back in Sydney tomorrow (24 May).

According to local legend, Mystery Island was considered sacred and only used for certain ceremonial purposes. Folklore also suggests it was haunted by spirits although today it is a popular tourist destination known for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant marine life.
