Injured Ukrainian soldier with amputated leg thrown off Wizz Air flight

Videos circulated broadly yesterday exhibiting Wizz Air flight officers escorting the injured Ukrainian soldier off his aircraft. A passenger on board the flight, travelling from Tel Aviv to Warsaw, shared footage of the incident on TikTok. The unnamed soldier had been attempting to return to his household, who’re residing in Ukraine.

The soldier had been receiving medical therapy for his accidents in Israel.

The man had misplaced his leg through the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022.

The video, shared by TikTok consumer @mbbddk, confirmed the person standing with crutches on the entrance of the aircraft earlier than ultimately being eliminated.

The man was faraway from the flight after an hour and a half of dialogue on the aircraft, throughout which he was advised “we are trying to solve this problem”.

According to the TikTok consumer, the person later “fell down and hurt his hands” earlier than he was “forced to leave the flight”.

Wizz Air have since apologized for the incident, posting an announcement in response to the outrage: “Safety is our number one priority and it is our crew’s responsibility to ensure that all passengers are fit to fly or are accompanied by someone to support them.

“If there may be any indication {that a} passenger has a medical situation which may put them in danger whereas flying, we’re obligated to disclaim boarding.

“In this instance, it was a difficult but necessary decision taken with the passenger’s safety in mind. He was provided with water and somewhere to sit while waiting for assistance from airport staff.”

It is believed that the Ukrainian veteran was eliminated resulting from considerations about his leg prosthesis.

However, Wizz Air later wrote to the Hungarian news company Telex that the passenger was distraught when boarding the plane.

Various Ukrainian veterans injured amid the combating in Ukraine have been dropped at Israel for therapy.

The video sparked a furore on social media, with many shaming Wizz Air for his or her therapy of the veteran.

Several vowed to not fly on Wizz Air once more.

@denis_makogon tweeted: “It always made me feel so involved when I was flying in the US with a soldier or a veteran. Everyone clapped to him while the captain thanked him for his duty.

“#WizzAir airline forcing a Ukrainian veteran to go away a aircraft due to his harm! How the hell that is ever doable?!”
