Ten individuals have been killed at the least 100 individuals are feared to have been injured after a practice derailed in India after colliding with a items practice in Odisha’s Balasore. The accident reportedly occurred close to Bahanaga station in Balasore on Friday night.

Following the incident, rescue operations have been launched and the injured are being moved to Balasore hospital. 

The Special Relief Commissioner’s workplace in Odisha stated in an announcement: “Teams have left for the spot for search and rescue operation.

“Collector Balasore has additionally been directed to achieve the spot to make all mandatory preparations and intimate the SRC if any further assistance is required from the state stage.”

According to reports, several teams from the NDRF are on their way to the scene to carry out further rescue operations. 

Odisha Fire Services DG and Sudhanshu Sarangi have reportedly been put in charge of supervising the operation.

Furthermore, Odisha Revenue Minister Pramila Mallik and the SRC have been told to head to the site of the accident to ensure the smooth running of the operation.

President Droupadi Murmu tweeted his condolences to those affected by the accident. He said: “Deeply anguished to know concerning the lack of lives in an unlucky rail accident in Balasore, Odisha.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “Distressed by the practice accident in Odisha. In this hour of grief, my ideas are with the bereaved households. May the injured recuperate quickly. 

“Spoke to Railway Minister and took stock of the situation. Rescue ops are underway at the site of the mishap and all possible assistance is being given to those affected.”
