Panama nationwide crew footballer Gilberto Hernández killed by gunmen

anama footballer Gilberto Hernández, who performed for the nationwide crew, has died after being shot within the metropolis of Colón.
The Panamanian Football Federation (FEPAFUT) confirmed the 26-year-old defender’s demise in a press release on Monday.
“FEPAFUT extends its condolences to his family and loved ones, as well as to the entire CAI and Panamanian football family”, it stated in a press release.
Hernandez performed for Club Atletico Independiente de La Chorrera within the Panamanian Football League and made two worldwide appearances.
“My sincere condolences to the relatives of Gilberto Hernández,” the Panama nationwide crew’s managerThomas Christiansen posted on the social media website X.
The footballer was shot lifeless in Barrio Norte, Colón on Sunday when two gunmen opened hearth inside a constructing, the BBC reported. Seven others have been reportedly injured.
The nationwide police in Panama have confirmed the “apprehension of a citizen suspected of the murder of a football player, which occurred on Sunday … in the province of Colón”.
Hernández started his profession with Club Deportivo Árabe Unido in Colón in 2018. He performed for the crew till 2022, when he moved to Herrera FC.
He stayed with Herrera FC for half a season earlier than transferring to Club Atletico Independiente de La Chorrera, the place he scored seven targets throughout 32 matches.
Internationally, Hernández was referred to as up by the Panama U-22 crew to play the 2019 Pan American Games.
