Jordan Spieth explodes with fury and yells at himself throughout PGA Championship

Jordan Spieth couldn’t disguise his frustration after being sad with one in every of his tee photographs in the course of the US PGA Championship. The second main of the Year is happening this week on the Oak Hill Country Country Club in Pittsford, New York.

Spieth was three-over par after the primary two rounds of the match, solely simply managing to make the reduce for the weekend. Four-time main champion Brooks Koepka was the chief after the third spherical at six-under par, one stroke forward of second-placed Viktor Hovland.

The irritating second from Spieth got here early on throughout his third spherical on Saturday. At the par-three third gap, Spieth aimed his tee shot however it fell effectively in need of the inexperienced.

Before the ball had even completed touring, Spieth didn’t disguise his irritation as he let loose an expletive outburst which might be heard by the microphone on the tee. Spieth yelled: “Damn it, hit one good f*****g iron shot,” before walking back to his caddie.

Spieth would go on to get a bogey on the third hole after failing to get up and down from his tee shot. Thankfully for the American, his round would show signs of improvement.

He would go on to hit four birdies, three bogeys in total and a double bogey to record a round of 71 and one-over par. That left his three-over par for the tournament and some nine shots adrift of the leader.

A late surge to win the major championship was highly unlikely for Spieth going into his fourth round. But getting in as the clubhouse header would have been something that the 29-year-old would have been aiming for as a realistic target.

Spieth won’t have to wait long to compete in the next major championship of the year. The US Open is due to begin on June 21 at the North Course of the Los Angeles Country Club, in what will be the first time that the event has been staged in the city for the first time in 75 years since 1948.

It has been six years since Spieth last won a major championship, with his last coming at the British Open in 2017. That is one of three majors to his name, with one each for the US Open and the Masters which were both won in 2015.

In terms of the PGA Championship, Spieth would have had an extra incentive to win the tournament this year given it’s the only major he’s yet to add to his collection. His best finish came in his best year in golf in 2015, when he was runner-up to Jason Day.

Had he won that tournament, Spieth would have been the first golfer to win three majors in one year since 2000. The last player to do that was Tiger Woods, when he won the US Open, British Open and PGA Championship all within the space of 12 months.
