An 11-year-old boy stays in a essential situation after he was hit by a police automobile in Lancaster.

A senior officer has stated her “thoughts and prayers” are along with his household after he was struck by the automobile with its lights on responding to an emergency.

Lancashire Police’s chief superintendent Karen Edwards spoke to the press this afternoon.

The boy was left in a critical condition in hospital and stays severely injured, she confirmed.

He was initially taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary however was later transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool for additional therapy.

The senior police officer didn’t reply questions after studying a press release.

The youngster had been crossing Owen Road simply earlier than 8.30pm on Thursday evening when he was hit.

An IOPC spokesperson stated its investigation started at 10.37pm on Thursday.

In an up to date assertion in the present day, the watchdog stated: “Our investigation will look at the actions of Lancashire Constabulary officers, prior to the collision.”

IOPC regional director, Catherine Bates, added: “This is an incredibly tragic incident and my thoughts are with the boy, his family and all those affected by the incident.

“There is a compulsory requirement for forces to refer incidents like this to us, which end in dying or severe harm, and our investigation will completely look at the circumstances previous to the collision, together with whether or not acceptable insurance policies and procedures had been adopted.”

Police had appealed for any information after the incident, including CCTV or dashcam footage from nearby, adding: “Our ideas are with the kid’s family members at the moment.”
