Brian May unveils new Freddie Mercury statue at Queen’s We Will Rock You musical

During We Will Rock You’s 12 12 months run on the Dominion theatre, a large gold Freddie Mercury statue adorned the doorway by Tottenham Court Road tube station.

Sir Brian May shared the news celebrating the opening of previews for the present forward of its premiere on Wednesday night.

The 75-year-old guitarist posted snaps and a video celebrating the revealing in the beginning of the run.

Sharing a publish of the statue being lifted out of a van, Sir Brian wrote: “How exciting is this ?

“Brand new FREDDIE Statue arriving to be installed in London’s Coliseum Theatre – ready for the grand new opening next week !!! We Will Rock You – It’s a promise ! Bri.”

In an accompanying video with the statue, he added: “We had 12 years in the Dominion [theatre] and I wonder how things will go in the Coliseum. It looks great, see you there!”

After attending the primary preview, which stars present author Ben Elton for the primary time, Sir Brian shared: “It was a magnificent first preview tonight of WE WILL ROCK YOU the Rock Theatrical, reborn in the Coliseum Theatre and bristling with new energy. Congratulations to the entire Company – what an incredible response !!!!”
