Wilfried Zaha and Stormzy be a part of forces to purchase native membership AFC Croydon Athletic
The pair are a part of a three-man consortium, together with former Crystal Palace equipment man Danny Young, that has exchanged contracts with the prevailing homeowners.
Croydon holds an in depth place within the trio’s hearts, with Zaha shifting there from the Ivory Coast when he was 4 and coming by way of Palace’s academy. Rapper Stormzy was born and raised in Croydon.
A membership assertion stated: “The consortium will own, operate and develop their childhood hometown club.
“The three consortium members are excited about developing a community asset in the borough that gave them their own opportunities. They hope to take the entire community on this exciting journey with them.”
AFC Croydon Athletic compete within the Combined Counties League Premier South Division, step 5 of the English soccer pyramid.
The membership had been based in 2012 after Croydon Athletic FC withdrew from the Isthmian League and later folded.
