Kate Garraway wipes away tears on GMB over Derek Draper’s assist
The broadcaster, who was awarded an MBE earlier this week, joined co-host Ben Shephard on Friday’s instalment the place she revealed she was feeling “emotional” as company paid tribute to her.
Labour MP Wes Streeting was first to reward the 56-year-old on-air as he shared his satisfaction over her latest honour.
He shared: “Kate, it was wonderful to see you at the palace the other day with Derek, honestly, it made my heart burst.
“You really deserve it, it was lovely to see you there and it was lovely to see Derek celebrating with you.”
He continued: “And I know I speak not just for all of Derek’s friends in the Labour Party but right across parliament.
“If there is one thing that can unite us all, it was just wonderful to see you there. You absolutely deserved it.
“And to see Derek there smiling and supporting you was just brilliant, absolutely fantastic.”
Streeting’s sentiments left the presenter tearing up as she admitted she “could burst into tears at any point”.
She shared: “Well, it’s all a tribute, isn’t it, to the NHS. So we all come back to the same point and it was wonderful to have our brilliant nurse Jake there as well and for the Prince of Wales to acknowledge him.
“Thank you so much. I’m on a bit of a hair-trigger emotionally this morning Mr Streeting. I could burst into tears at any point, it’s all caught up with me, but thank you so, so much.”
And it appeared that the TV presenter nearly did after Eurovision star Sam Ryder performed his new tune within the studio.
Wiping tears from her eyes, Garraway stated: “That has floored me! I’m on a hair-trigger emotionally. The lyrics and that voice! Sam you’ve finished me off.”
Her tearful look on GMB comes after the TV star revealed her husband “burst into tears” with satisfaction after she was formally made a Member of the Order of the British Empire at Windsor Castle.
The honour recognises Kate’s providers to broadcasting, journalism, and to charity.
