Amazon warehouse employees to strike for 3 days subsequent week, clashing with Prime Day gross sales

Hundreds of Amazon employees at a Coventry warehouse will stroll out subsequent week in a long-running dispute over pay. 

The strike will happen from 11 July to 13 July for 2 hours within the morning and two within the night on every of the three days.

The walkout by members of the GMB union coincides with a Prime Day sale Amazon introduced for 11-12 July.

In June, the union stated the Coventry warehouse employees had voted for six extra months of strikes following a string of industrial action.

GMB members are calling for no less than £15 an hour to assist with the cost of living crisis.

Starting pay for Amazon staff is between £11 and £12 per hour, relying on the placement.

“GMB members in Coventry have time and time again shown that this fight will only end with £15 an hour and union rights,” GMB senior organiser Rachel Fagan stated.

The Coventry web site, which doesn’t present customer-facing operations, grew to become Amazon’s first in the UK to witness walkouts in January.

Amazon stated because the Coventry warehouse doesn’t immediately serve buyer orders there can be no disruption to clients.
