Now Alcaraz has broken his silence on the reports following his quarter-final win over Holger Rune. The Spaniard was initially confused by the question in his press conference, before appearing to brush off the allegations as nothing serious.

“Probably it’s true,” Alcaraz said. “My father is a large fan of tennis and he would not solely watch my matches.

“I think he gets into the club at 10am and leaves at 11pm watching matches and practice and being able to watch Djokovic in real life it is probably true he was filming the sessions.”

And Alcaraz appeared to hit again at any suggestion his father’s filming would give him an edge additional down the road. “I don’t think so,” he stated when requested whether or not it gave him a ‘aggressive benefit’.

“I have a lot of videos from Djokovic on every platform. I think it’s not an advantage for me.”

Alcaraz is now into the semi-finals of Wimbledon the place he’ll face Daniil Medvedev, who the Spaniard likened to an ‘octopus’.

“Well, he’s really complete player,” he stated. “I’m going to say, I think Rublev said a few times, he’s an octopus. He catch every ball. It is amazing. He’s an amazing athlete.

“I feel a mixture of the whole lot. He does virtually the whole lot nicely.”
