Firefighters deal with blaze at distinguished 200-year-old resort on Brighton seafront

Firefighters have been battling a blaze at a distinguished 200-year-old resort on Brighton seafront.

A complete of 15 hearth engines had been despatched to the scene on the Royal Albion Hotel – which overlooks Brighton Pier – on Saturday.

But firefighters had been hampered of their efforts due to excessive winds.

A Met Office yellow climate warning was in place throughout Saturday because of excessive winds in giant elements of England, and in South Wales.

At 5am on Sunday, the fireplace service stated it was “scaling back operations”.

However, six home equipment and two aerial ladder platforms stay on the scene.

Councillor Bella Sankey, chief of the town council, stated: “These are very sad scenes in our city.

“On behalf of the town council I need to give my because of the emergency providers for attending the fireplace on the historic Royal Albion Hotel within the coronary heart of our metropolis.”

Efforts to deal with the fireplace had been hampered by excessive winds

The 219-bedroom regency-style resort was inbuilt 1826.

Part of the constructing was Grade II* listed by English Heritage and suffered a earlier hearth in November 1998.

It is at present run by Britannia Hotels, the proprietor of Pontins.
