Chahal on parting methods with RCB: ‘I didn’t obtain any telephone name, nobody even spoke to me’
Yuzvendra Chahal has revealed his anger and disappointment on the method of his parting with Royal Challengers Bangalore forward of the IPL 2022 season, saying he didn’t even “receive any phone call” from the franchise.
Ahead of that public sale, Chahal had stated, “Obviously, I want to go to RCB again” in an interview with R Ashwin, however because it transpired they didn’t even bid for him. He was ultimately purchased by Rajasthan Royals for INR 6.5 crore, with Mumbai, Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad being the opposite contributors within the bid.

“When I put my name up for the auction, they promised me that they will go all out for me,” Chahal advised Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube channel. “I said okay, but then I was very angry. I think I did not speak to the coaches for two-three days. Even when I played my first match for RR against RCB, I did not speak to anyone.”

After starting his IPL profession with Mumbai Indians in 2011, Chahal was purchased by RCB on the 2014 public sale and performed eight seasons for them. Over the course of 113 matches, Chahal went on to turn out to be – and nonetheless is – RCB’s highest wicket-taker, however the franchise selected to not retain him forward of the 2022 mega-auction.

“Definitely, I felt very bad. My main journey started in 2014. I also felt very weird because I played for the franchise for eight years,” he stated. “I would also say that I got the India cap because of my performances for RCB because they gave me a chance to perform. From the very first match, Virat bhai showed trust in me.”

In that interview with Ashwin earlier than the 2022 public sale, Chahal had spoken of what he want to get on the public sale: “”I do not wish to say I need [INR] 15 crore or one thing, eight crore is sufficient for me.” Now, he reiterated that he had not made a demand for an exorbitant sum of money.

“I heard issues like, ‘Yuzi ne bahut paise maang liye honge’ [Yuzi must have asked for a lot of money]. Lot of such stuff was popping out,” he said. “That’s why I clarified in an interview that I had not requested for any certain amount. I do know what I deserve. The worst factor, which I felt very unhealthy about, was that I didn’t obtain any telephone name. No one even spoke to me. I believe I performed round 114 video games for them. I could not perceive what occurred abruptly.”

Since joining Royals, Chahal has taken 48 wickets in two IPL seasons. He won the Purple Cap during Royals’ run to the final in IPL 2022.

“Anything can occur within the public sale, after which I realised that it is okay, no matter occurs, occurs for good. The one plus level is that after coming to Rajasthan, I turned a loss of life bowler. At RCB, my overs had been completed by the sixteenth or seventeenth over. Here, my cricket progress has improved 5-10 p.c. That attachment is certainly there for RCB, however coming to Rajasthan has helped my cricket lots.”
