Enormous part of cliff collapses simply metres from seaside city

An monumental chunk of cliff face collapsed close to a seaside city in Dorset final evening after months of warnings.

The large rock displacement comes after a 230-foot-long crack was noticed on the coast in January this 12 months.

The 60-foot-wide part of the 600-foot-tall plunged onto the seashore, leaving a gaping gap in its wake.

Pictures present the destruction and the proximity of the close by city.

It is known that hundreds of tonnes of rock, boulders and earth have collapsed onto the bottom under.

When the crack was first noticed, native geologist Richard Edmonds defined that the 180-million-year-old sandstone cliffs are notably susceptible after a cliff collapse.

He stated on the time: “We have had enough sustained rainfall now for anything to happen over the next few months.

“This specific a part of the cliff had an enormous collapse two years in the past which could have undermined this components help.”

He went on to urge British tourists to be aware of the danger and get away as soon as there was any sign of movement.
